About Nicolle Mitchell

Hello my name is Nicolle and I’ve practiced massage since 1998. I have a clinic in Cornwall where all are welcome to experience the benefits of my holistic and integrated approach to massage and wellbeing.

Before I became a therapist, I worked therapeutically with children and young people who had experienced trauma, so it seemed a natural progression for me to qualify in therapy. This still influences my work today in my commitment to remaining trauma informed and passing that on through my training.

When an opportunity arose earlier in my career to treat persons living with dementia I wanted to develop my knowledge further to support them more fully. Finding no courses in my field I developed one; “Massaging Persons Living with Dementia”, the first course of its kind in the UK. My work has received recognition within my profession from a number of organisations including the Federation of Holistic Therapists for excellence in innovation.

I regularly visit clients who live with dementia to administer integrated massage treatments which involve aromatherapy and other creative therapeutic approaches.

I work part-time for the NHS in the adult speech and language department as a therapy assistant providing support to enable clinical rehabilitation to people who have issues with speaking and swallowing.

On a personal level, I love spending time on our land nurturing a very young food forest, embracing the permaculture principles, “Earth care, People Care, Fair Share”.

I find joy in all aspects of my life, each enriching the other to deliver with passion and keep my approach fresh and exciting.

Although there are courses to help you learn how to massage persons with special needs, I discovered that there were no courses specifically for teaching me how to massage persons who live with dementia.
