This 1-day course is all about exploring the art and science of using essential oils to improve wellbeing, cognition and engagement for clients living with dementia.
Aromatherapy for Persons Living with Dementia is the UK’s first course of its kind created and facilitated by award-winning trainer Nicolle Mitchell.
I invite both qualified and qualifying aromatherapists to delve into the art and science of using essential oils to enhance wellbeing, cognition, and engagement for clients living with dementia.
We’ll look at some of the growing body of scientific evidence and how the application of aromatherapy can treat the person and address some secondary health issues often associated with dementia. We will also consider how to share our knowledge to benefit the wider support system of those living with dementia. Through hands-on practice, we will weave together our existing knowledge with new insights, further developing your own unique styles.
We will reflect on how we connect with and support individuals through aromatherapy, guided by best practices and always prioritising the person at the heart of our care. I will provide foundational dementia awareness information to build upon, focusing on 15 essential oils that have been researched for their effectiveness. Additionally, I will create a collaborative forum where we can share our collective expertise in essential oils and therapy. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life, cognition, and overall wellbeing for individuals living with dementia.
Whether you are looking to specialise in this rewarding field, become more dementia-informed and inclusive in your practice, or simply wish to connect more deeply with individuals living with dementia, this course is designed for you. My aim is that we enjoy our developmental and explorative time together.
“When words escape us – the senses connect to our very essence.”
You will be asked to bring along a minimum core of essential oils as well as encouraged to bring along your essential oil collection if you wish.
We’ll take a close-up look at the benefits of essential oils and how they can improve the quality of life for a person living with dementia, explore gentle massage techniques, and prescribe essential oils in different mediums to best suit a client’s needs safely in a dementia informed way.
You can book both the Aromatherapy for Persons Living with Dementia course, 0n Sunday, August 17, 2025, and course and the Massaging Persons Living with Dementia course, on Saturday, August 16, as a package for £350 (a saving of £50) – please choose the option on the checkout.
